We should all consider looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprints within IT. Current trends include meeting and collaboration without travel (using virtual meeting software), virtualisation of non virtual hardware thus reducing energy output from power supplies, fans etc, customer education on switching off computers and monitors at the mains, educational signatures on email messages, setting defaults on printers to double sided black and white printing, upgrading data centre air-con and environmental control cabinets to help reduce energy outputs and paperless offices with bulk scanning and offsite backup.
